La Crosse and La Crescent could soon add another bridge for pedestrians and bikers to cross the Mississippi River west channel.
The Wagon Wheel Trail project from the La Crosse city planners would add a new standalone bridge on the Minnesota end of the crossing and widen the sidewalks for the rest of the highway.
Construction of the pedestrian bridge is scheduled to begin in summer 2026. The new pathway will start at Sportsmen’s Landings in Minnesota and end at the underpass of Cass Street and Cameron Avenue Bridges in Wisconsin....
