GREEN BAY - Resilience may be a theme of this year`s Juneteenth celebration in Green Bay, but Ivy Summers hopes one day Black people don`t have to be resilient to live their lives."Black resilience is rooted in the history of having to survive — having to overcome oppression and obstacles," said Summers, Juneteenth coordinator at We All Rise in Green Bay. "Black resilience is beautiful, but it shouldn`t have to continue." As We All Rise African American Resource Center, in collaboration with Black Lives United – Green Bay, prepares for its fourth-annual Juneteenth celebration, the nonprofit is looking ahead at new programs that can help close equity gaps in Green Bay`s Black community and, potentially, ease those everyday struggles.
