MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. — Racine County residents filed a class action lawsuit against Microsoft over noise during construction of the company's new data center.
According to the lawsuit, the residents allege the facility emits a constant industrial hum that has disrupted their daily lives, interfered with sleep and outdoor activities, and diminished their property values.

"The noise emitted from the Data Center, and experienced by Plaintiffs and the Class, is not only excessive, but consistent and pervasive," the lawsuit reads.
The plaintiffs claim Microsoft failed to adequately control the noise through proper soundproofing, acoustic barriers, and quieter cooling systems, despite knowing about community complaints..
